for all you math guys out there

the zddp additive that elgin sells has 60,000 ppm in the 4 oz bottle and your supposed to add it to 5-6 qts of oil. So what would that make the ppm if you added it to 6 qts of oil?
my thought would be 60000/192(oz per 6 qts) gives 312.5. Or would you take 192(6qts)/4(oz per bottle of zddp) is 48 then go 60000/48 gives you 1250 ppm?

Im thinking:

6qts= 192oz and your adding another 4oz which has 60,000 ppm

so you have a total of 196oz that the 60,000 ppm is diluted by

so 60,000/196= 306.1224

b/c 60,000/4oz= 15,000 (which is what ppm each oz of additive has)

I think thats right but idk fo sho...

well just talked to my wife as she deals with this stuff every day in the lab forgot about that. you take total ounces is 196(6qts + 4oz) divide that by 4. 196/4 is 49. take 60000 divide that by 49. 60000/49= 1224.49... This was for a few people that asked me about the zddp compared to amsoil race oil for their cars. amsoil has 1575ppm zinc and 1424ppm phosphorus. So it covers the flat tappet cams. and the diesel oil has 1377ppm zinc and 1267ppm phosphorus. I don't know what the standard content on zinc or phosphorus is on standard motor oil and the low e diesel oil.
