ive always called them stack boxes and never heard them referred to as tone boxes. it does give a different sound that the t-pipe kits. it is a little quieter but sounds good when you get on it. they also smoke the exact same unlike some stacks that arent.

i also have a stack box made out of 4x6 tubing, it does quite it down a bit and i like it because two 1/4" bolts and the stacks dont move at all and they are straight up

Nice pic I'm not looking to quiet them down. But I am looking in to doing stacks for my truck. I want a nice loud deep sound, as diesels shouldn't be qiuiet especially the older trucks in my opinion. Does it make a difference whether that T-pipe is centered in the bed or not?

Also how do you like those black stacks? I like them over the chrome look. Anyone think a rain cap on the miter cuts would look rediculous?

i actually dont even have anything holding my stack box down and it doesnt go anywhere. not even romping it off-road have they moved. mine is made out of 4x6x.250" wall.

it is cut right where a single stack would cut the hole. straight up from where the exhaust is.
