Paint that sticks to aluminum?

anyone know what brand is the best? where i can get it? etc.

i have a set of American Racing Mojave's on my truck and im taking them off soon to get new tires mounted and i figured while they are off why not paint them black?

they are polished so i know i'll have to scuff them up at least.

any input would be great

thanks
erik

Prep seems to be the key. I have used a alchahol to clean and prep and then a primer from a rattle can with good success.

You'll need to rough them up pretty good and I would use a self etching primer as well then paint and clear if you are going that route. I painted the chrome bumpers on my Duster at it held up great. I roughed them up with 180 and then sprayed them with the self etching primer then wet sanded them with 500, primered again and then painted and wet sanded with 2000 and buffed.

Zink chromate primer or vinyl wash self etching primer, both come in rattle cans.

Clean with a strong degreaser, not solvent base for the vinyl primer. Let the wheels dry and clean with degreaser a second time.

Scuffing with scotchbrite brown will hold well and the wheels can be stripped and repolished if you want.
