Front bearing lock nuts

Is it necessary to reopen your hubs break the torqued lock nuts and re set them again. Just curious here.

Why? The front is a unitized hub bearing that is sealed...no need to retorque IMO.

Unsure. Told that you should after the bearings have been driven on and the grease is dispersed.

My first set went 250K and then I replaced them only cause I changed the rotors. The set now has 30K+ and were just pulled cause I did the ball joints (which were stock) and the front u-joints. They are in great shape as well. I hope there are some other replies after Easter from some other guys so we can get some thoughts.

That would be great, unfortunately mines spent at work so I get to post before I head out. Yeah I've never seen anything that says to do so after any sort of mileage. A family member suggested that after doing bearings alot on their own rigs before.

My nuts are torqued, 35ft-lbs for the inner locking nut with a cotter pin for the lock washer, and the outer nut is torqued to 185ft-lbs. I just went in between the values of the posted threads. It seems to be working fine, I went in between the 31-39 and 160-205 values since thats what we usually do at work with a torque range.

On another note Happy easter to all

Is this on lock-outs or something? I was thinking it was like my 2nd Gen's unitized hubs?

Not sure what you mean. The truck is a 4x4 truck with manual locking hubs.

That's what I thought. I was thinking it was like my second Gen and there are no manual locking hubs. They have sealed unit hub bearings.
