It is like baffling in the air intake tube from filter to turbo all it does is restricts the flow of air like mike said take it out and cut the bottom of your stock box and your golden. I have heard and believe the stock box is good for up to 500hp

agreed, all you have to do Erik it take the intake tubing off, and there is a plastic section in the middle about 10-12" long and about 5" in diameter, inside that section there are a set of large perforated fins or X looking pieces, as well as ring like baffles on the outside part of the tube, they just slow down the airflow and muffle the turbo whistle

to remove just undo the clamps on either end and pull it out, once you have that done you have to break apart the "muffler" device, on of the ends(cant remember which) will come out, you have to break it a little, i think if you use a flatblade screw driver and pry it apart it will come out, once its out you can slide the guts of it out and replace the endcap(make sure you use jb-weld or some kind of strong glue to keep it together and make it seal against dust), let the glue dry and replace it in your truck, it will increase flow, whistle and cost you $0, you can also take a 2-3" hole saw and punch a couple holes in the bottom of your filter box to allow more cold air through to the filter

hopefully that works for you Erik

yup!!!! or you can get a 12" piece of 5" exhaust pipe and put it in there.....makes the turbo even louder!!! i used a 1" hole saw and punched about 10 holes in the bottom and sides of the airbox and it made a huge difference.

ok guys. thanks for the info on this subject. i am literally in the process of doing this right now. i got everything apart. took out the baffle/muffler thingy, and have glued that piece back on.

just waiting for it to dry.

i got another quick question here though. should i take the other plastic piece out of the rubber intake elbow?

thanks
erik

If you havent you could go with a BHAF as well with the gutted intake tube.

2005 Dodge 2500 Cummins Short bed 4x4 automatic, Rollin Smoke Diesel 5" STRAIGHT TBE, BHAF, Edge Juise w/ Attitude, way to many parts that one can wish for but never enough funds to keep up with the wishes
