Exhaust leak and pyrometer

While hauling a load of topsoil today, I think I developed an exhaust leak. When I apply more fuel when going uphill, I hear a load swishing sound from the rear of the motor, and my pyrometer climbs up to 11.5 very quickly now. Even when I'm just hauling an empty trailer, when going up hill, the pyrometer climbs to 11, and it didnt do that before I heard the swiching sound. Am I correct in thinking it's an exhaust leak causing it to rise?.

An exhaust leak wouldn't raise EGT's.

A boost leak will. Are you seeing any more smoke than normal?
