transmission fluid temp sensor

for the last two years i've bypassed my transmission fluid temp sensor, all works fine, ive read about installing a 1K resistor instead of simply " jumping " the wires... ? what difference does that make. i realize the PCM will get a different signal but what difference will it do in regards to shifting.

That temp sensor is a on/off switch. It is a normaly closed switch. It is set to open at 275 degrees. It will auto reset at 240 degrees.

If you used a jumper wire. Just leave it installed.
