I have a stupid question

Like I have said in pots before i have some knowledge about diesels but it is not any were near you guys. So what is a IDI.

Truck: 1990 Ford F-250 5.0 EFI, 4x4 , Longbed, 5 speed w/ Hurst shifter, K&N FIPK, Line-X Bed liner, Ford Racing Valve Covers, 2 1/2 in exhaust w/ 4 inch SS tips, A pillar pod filled with Autometer Pro Comp Ultra Lites , Custom switch box w/ 5 switch panel, and more to come

To explain IDI further; there is a pre-combustion chamber in the head which fuel is sprayed in and there is where combustion begins. You kinda do the same thing in a Cummins except the piston has a dish with a cone in it rather than having the chamber to atomize the fuel and start the burn.

also on the 6.9 and the 7.3 IDI the glow plug is in that chamber and heats that air inside the pre-combustion chamber
