Gear Fluids

What would be a better recommended gear fuild in the Getrag 360 trans and Transfer case on these first gen. trucks? Does it make a difference being a 1ton truck? Thanks.

Synthetic motor oil, overfill by a quart because the lube path for a bearing is not positive.

According to Alldata, the trans takes 5w30 motor oil. I filled mine a quart over with 5w30 synthetic Mobil One, and Haven't had a single problem. Also according to Alldata, the transfer case takes: "Transfer Case Fluid Multipurpose Gear Oil (A.P.I. specification GL-5 or engine oils labeled A.P.I. Service SF/CC or SF/CD)." I put regular old 75w90 gear oil in mine and it has worked fine.

1992 W250-P-pump and some extra air, gone, but not forgotten.
