INJECTORS

Hi my girl friends 93 started having injectors leak and they have 250,000 on em so its time for some new ones. I would like to up grade to a mild and reasonable priced injector. I am not sure what would be a good match. It's an auto with no mods besides bhaf and open exhaust. down the road she wants the pump turned up a little and maybe someday some turbo work. She plans on do some occasional towing 10,000 lbs or so, a little 3 horse steel goose neck. i am going to put a pyro in for her but still......u know......I was looking at the prince of darkness (POD) injectors any input on them or other recommendations? She would like not to lose much on the mpg's thanks

I would go with stock, or 190's with a stock transmission. IIRC 190's are actually smaller than stock, but you get a performance and a mileage boost due to better atomization. I have a set of stockers out of a 1992 intercooled if you are interested. They work fine in my truck before I did the P-pump.

1992 W250-P-pump and some extra air, gone, but not forgotten.

I am no longer sure what year will interchange but you can run P-pump injectors in a VE pump engine. The only issue I can think of is some years have a larger size injector tip and in that case you would need a bushing. Also have the pop pressure set for the type of pump you are running.

89-91 non intercooled have a 9mm injector tip. 91.5-98.5 have the 7mm injector tip. The 7mm heads are more desirable because apparently the 9mm heads are prone to cracking.

P-pump and VE pump have different pop pressure...the injectors will bolt in like BRC stated but they won't run right.

He covered that, albeit vaguely. And the threads where the injector lines thread on are different as well I believe.

On some the nuts are a different size, You will need to check to see what size injector you have, or you can send what you have out and get them reworked, or change to the correct injector lines for second gen injector. POD's should be about the same as a 370 injector.

But with a stock auto pulling a three horse steel gooseneck, PODs are gonna toast that transmission, not to mention the pistons if the trans holds together long enough. PODs, like 370s, have the wrong spray angle, so they are smokey and hot. I would go very mild unless you plan to do major trans upgrades in the near future. I would at least do a converter and valvebody if you plan on putting some good power down. Like I said, stockers, or 190s with a little pump tweaking will probably get her where she wants to be. Also, post over in the vendors forum and see what they have to say. They may be able to hook you up with what you want.
