Shifting issue

I have an 01 Dodge 338,000 KM that justed started having an issue with the 1-2 shift. Once it makes the shift it goes through the rest of the gears and into lock-up with no problems. Fluid is at the correct level, it is also Amsoil Synthetic, has been for about 300,000 km's and the fluid looks and smells good. This issue just started in the last 2 or 3 days, 1st couple of days very intermittent, today full time.

before spending the money, here is a free tip. With the truck off get under the truck and on the drivers side there is a speed sensor towards the back of the transsmision before the transfercase meets the tranny. unplug it and you will need a big wrench to unscrew it. take it out and if there is a little fuzz on it wipe it off clean and put it back in. This is normal wear and tear overtime driving. If that don't fix the problem then have the pan dropped and replace both the solenoids wile the pan is off.

Is the trans stock or built? If you can get it on a good diagnostic tool that will help to see what is going on. Since the 1-2 shift is still a hydrualic shift with hydrualic pressure being controlled by the gov. solenoid, that is probably where your problem lies. The nice thing about putting it on a good tool, is you can checking the readings from all of the different sensors and see which ones aren't reading how they should. And also see if actual gov. press. matches desired gov. press.

my truck had the same problem 6 times it was the 2nd gear adjustment band. its just a little like cast iron cup with a bolt that pushes on it and they brake off causing it to slip. it gives you the impression that 2nd gear is blown up but its just not grabbing. beware driving it like that you WILL destroy your trans in a matter on mins i did and the trans cost me a little over 4500 to have it built they are not cheap.
