hot rod vp44

Would like to hear some feedback on the hot rod vp44. Anybody using one? My pump is still working but power hasn't been consistant. Sometimes the truck feels like an indy car and other times its kinda weak. My pump has been starved twice that i know of in the past and it has over 190,000 miles on it. I'm thinking about the upgrade even before my pump goes completely bad. What do you guys think?

the day i graduated high school
I like mine! Gained alittle more fuel milage, noticed a power difference between the stock and the hotrod. The bad thing about it is, if you do alot of short driving it kills it quick! but other then that, it pretty good.

have done testing with my truck and the hrvp doesn't gain you any more power. It costs more and can cause weird idles and they cost more. The mileage gain talked about could be related to an old pump going bad. I know I went from a 185k mile pump to a 85k miles pump and hp was more consistent.

01 quad cab 4x4, edge drag comp, 4" exhaust, fass 150, 250 ddps, Jefferson State compounds 683hp so vp 11.91. AMSOIL front to rear. now back to stock 95 fummins in the works

waste of $$$ stick with a SO pump they'll make all the power you need, if not buy a monster...

I run a scheid lightening pump on my truck, and I am very happy with it. I haven't done any back to back testing with it, so I do not know how it compares to the SO pump, but it does fuel a lot harder down low than the SO pump, that is for sure. The circumstances under which I got mine made it worth it for me to go that route. Normally, I would just say go with an SO pump.

Reliability is the issue for me. I understand that the SO pump is more reliable than the Hot Rod VP. The way I looked at it when I changed out my VP was that the Hot Rod was more expensive but doesn't last as long, so why would I want to spend the extra money on something that only yields minimal HP gains but cost A LOT to replace? I'd rather take that money and invest it in a box or injectors and get far more power for the dollar.....and have the VP be as reliable as possible.
