I know in my brother's dodges ('96 and '94) with slush-o-matics they only lock in 3rd gear and 4th. If you leave the switch on and put it in drive as soon as you start to move it will shift rite into 4th (or 3rd if you lock out OD).

there is a few ways to deal with this:

Don't use the lock up switch until you get in 3rd

manually shift the truck if you want to leave the switch on (this is what we do) We basically drive the trucks like they have manual valve bodies.

IMHO the dodge automatics(in fact all autos) suck for hauling (pre 48 re never used one), they have a ridiculously high 1st gear ratio 2.43:1 (4R100 2.73:1) and they won't lock up in 1st or 2nd gear, witch will make a lot of torque converter heat. The 4R100 will lock the TCC in 1st and 2nd, the E4OD will only lock in 1st is you put in a switch.

what year truck?

I won't stay locked up in 4th?

did you ground the TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid ? You have to ground (-) the solenoid for it to lock up

our truck with stay locked up in 4th, if you leave it in 4th, we have to unlock it or down **** when coming to a stop or it will stall

to use it only in 4th, you will have to activate the TCC lock when it goes in to over drive, with a switch you need to install.

otherwise you wold have to get into the wiring and "T" into the overdrive solenoid wire and have it excite a relay to ground (-) out the TCC solenoid

I like the switch because you can use it in 3rd also

That is weird, I have first gear lockup in my truck. If I am sitting in drive and hit my lock up, it will stall the engine. Also, If I lock up at say 5-10mph, it will shift normal all the way through O/D, the only issue is, it won't down shift with the converter locked. With that said, I do have a racing valvebody and the tranny to handle locked shifts. I would just use a 2 position switch personally, the only time I have used a 3position is to force unlock if necessary. All you are doing is grounding that circuit, Pin B11, and putting a switch inline to interrupt the ground. You also need to jump the trans relay as well.
