Looking to buy

Howdy y'all. New to the post and looking at a 99 24v, 2wd, auto with 139K on the clock. Body straight, interior clean but with the cracked dash and a few holes in the leather seats. On my test drive I found the diff making noise and the dealer said he will take care of it with a used unit he has. No blow by that I can detect and it shifts well, no smoke or driving issues in town or on freeway. I plan to use it to do a little rv towing and as my daily driver. I work at home and don't drive too much, certainly not every day. Any opinions on this age and miles would be appreciated. Thanks

Thats pretty low mileage for the age of the truck. If you get a good deal, and the dealer will take care of what ever is wrong with the diff, then I wouldn't be the least bit hesitant.

My truck wants to be a semi when it grows up...

Has the Injection Pump been replaced? I would find that out and have the dealers mechanic test the Fuel Pressure at the pump...

Thanks for the replies. I can buy the truck for $10K and it is a rust free TX unit. He is fixing the diff now and I aim to have him test the fuel pressure before I fork over the cash. It will be nice to join the diesel club again.

I just heard back from the dealer and he tells me the fuel pressure is 7 psi. How do you fellas feel about that? The diff has been replaced.

at idle? you shouldnt be below 12 at idle and 10 at WOT imo...buy a FASS, Air Dog, or Raptor and hope the pump hasnt been damaged too much with that low of FP...

Nate is correct, its Air Dog or FASS time..and hope the pump is still ok. (VP44 IPs are not cheap) ...

Got a little better deal and will be pulling the trigger Monday. I figure it is worth the gamble for a truck with such low miles. Even if I have to put a pump in it I am looking at a lot of life left. Besides I am in love, well okay lust..er... um... you guys know what I mean. Thanks for the help.
