apps problem... maybe???

I have a 2001 4x4 ram cummins auto with 150k miles. The truck seems to want to switch between 3 and 4th gear or either 4th and overdrive climbing a hill around 35 to 40 mph. Its acting like it doesnt know what gear it should be in and switching back and forth. I was told that this was most likely the APPS and not a trans. problem. Any ideas??

See if it has any codes stored in it. When I had my 01 it did something similar but felt like a miss. it was time for injectors and we notices it was not as bad afterward but still there, so we replaced the APPS (TPS) and it went away. Its hard to say your having the same issue, but sounds similar, I can't say mine ever felt like a trans issue.

I guess it could also be described as a miss, but I did figure out it only does it when I am loading up a hill around 40 mph. but it feels like to me it want to kick in and out of OD and is not sure what gear to be in. if I turn the OD off it doesnt do it but with 4.10 gears in the rear end its not practical to drive without overdrive. But I checked and no codes are showing. I just unhooked the batteries and I am going to re cal the APPS to see I that helps.

Maybe hold out of O/D a bit longer. I only have 3.54's but I don't click into O/D until 55mph on flat and at least 60 on hills. Is it going in and out of lock up?

So I unhooked the batteries for an hour yesterday then hooked them back up, turned the key to on pushed the gas all the way to the floor once. So far "knock on wood" I have not had any problem with it today driving several miles around town. Hopefully the recal. worked...
