Exhaust?

So, I had my 99 bone stock inspected the other day. Dealer said the exhaust is pretty rusty. Not leaking but probably will be this winter with the salty roads. Trying to decide if I want to put stacks on or just aftermarket exhaust. I've been thinking about Silverline or Mbrp. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have mbrp 4" and it does a nice job.
stacks make it quite a bit louder in the cab ,other than that its up to what you want to do

If you are not making mistakes you are not doing anything.
why are Johndeeres painted green?
so they can hide in the grass when the red tractors go by

this is not mine, just thought it was cool

You have to remember it is a 360 cubic inch motor, and you drive it at what 2000 rpm max.

I put on a 4 inch turbo back Banks exhaust system on my 02 in the fall of 02. It is still on the truck and looks ok.

its 359 ci. And it revs higher than 2 grand goin down the highway. (i have 4:10's) Plus it redlines alot higher than that!
I have a 5 inch because when i bought it i had plans for big power in the future. I dunno how much more i'm goin up now but at least if and when i do i don't have to worry about needing bigger exhaust
Besides my point was that its made by heartthrob and its a good system. They make other sizes, not just 5. He could probably order a 2" if thats what he wanted

When there is talk about how the 5.9 needs all this exhaust, I will call BS. a class eight with a over 600 HP and 2,000 ft pounds of torque use 5 inch exhaust.
I worked on the 5.9 for years and as a 12 valve with a P7100 pump were a great engine.
This is all hype with absolutly no facts to back it up put a stock truck on the dyno, none of the BS runs make it pull the max load for 2 minutes then change the exhaust and see if there is a difference. Do it with all these fancy intakes. That is proof, I ran a wheel dyno for class eights and saw a lot of stuff come in, most of it made the output lower. I also saw a lot of stuff fail, having someone say the turbo winds up quicker is BS, and my favorite is I can hear it better.

Nowhere in my post did i say we needed 5 inch exhaust. That just happens to be what i have. 4" is plenty most of the time. I'm sure you're one of these goof balls that run stock diameter or smaller and claim it don't hurt your performance or send your egt's through the roof. And that is why i went big. I dropped over 100 degrees on the pyro when i put this exhaust on so i'm not gonna argue about it. Again we're talkin about something off subject from this thread and its wasn't even what i was talking about to begin with.

You are pretty loose with you talk, like I said I have put all kinds of units on a dyno and actually tested them and the hype is 100% BS, intakes and exhaust, lowering you EGT, it lowers the power available to drive the turbine.
