1998.5 won't take throttle

Okay a few weeks ago I get in my truck and crank it, when I go to give it throttle nothing happened. It just kept idling. I shut the engine off and restarted and it worked. I drove it like this for a few days and everytime the pedal didn't work you could shut it off and restart it and then you would have throttle and the truck ran as good as always. A few days ago it quit working all together, now it just idles. So I changed the APPS, recalibrate it and everything with no luck. I checked the codes today and the codes I got were P1693, P0237, and P0382. The truck ran fine and had a good smooth idle and has always held between 12-15lbs of fuel pressure. Have any of you had this problem and would know where to start? Any help would be great.

Let's start off with the codes.
P1693 DTC Detected in Companion Module
P0237 MAP Sensor Voltage Too Low.
P0382 Intake Air Heater Relay #2 Control Circuit

Now the guess work.
Check all the connections, one may be bad. Something is wrong either one of the chips is having issues or something. P1693 I look at as something is not communicating and everything is just running, limp mode. Also clean the battery connections and the ground where it attaches to the engine block.

Check the MAP sensor, if you are running a oil coated air filter like a KN it just takes a little oil on the sensor and you will have problems.

P0382 Intake air heater relay,,, check to see it something has grounded out one of the 2 air heaters power.

Normally I would say it's the VP44 but those are not the codes for that, or the chip in the VP may be bad.

I have had this same problem. The problem first appeared when I first put a smarty on my tuck and set it to level 9. I then set it to level 8 with the problem going away. I thought that my truck just didn't like timing. But now the problem has come back. I only have about 1/4" of throttle. I have a used APPS sensor that I am going to try but I am afraid that it is the VP.

Did you put a brand new APPS sensor on it?

If not these guys at Blue Chip Diesel have great info on their site, if you call them they will walk you through diagnosing the problem. They also have APPS sensors at a reasonable price.
