2001 dodge Overheating when pulling trailer

I recently bought a 2001 dodge ram 3500. The truck run great but but when you are pulling a trailer the truck according to the gauge wants to overheat. Today I am adding a mechanical gauge, I replaced the clutch fan and thermostat. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to waist time rotting radiator I would just like to replace with bigger one when looking into the radiator it looks clean but also can see all the way to bottom. The gauge runs between 200 and suddenly will go to 240. Thanks for your help....

Be sure your radiator cap is holding the proper preasure and the antifreeze is around -40F, the fluid is clean, you can wash out the radiator exterior, with a presure washer being sure the fluid goes straight in, many units will collect junk between the cores, causing restricted air flow, bug carcases stuck in the core. You might want to take the rad to a rad shop they can clean it inside and out and test it, CAC as well.
Look at the overflow/surge tank it has a hose on it, if the hose is wet at the end it you may want to do a bottle test on it.
