Searching for gear

2001 Dodge Ram 1 ton Automatic ---When driving the truck it is searching or surging between gears I was told to wrap the positive side battery cable in tinfoil I thought it was a joke but what the hell I tried it and it seemed to work for a week or so but now back to searching or wandering between 3rd and 4th or with over drive off searching between 2nd and 3rd. Could use a little better advise than tinfoil.

problem solved

for those interested a noise isolator can fix this problem. How ever if Dodge had this problem from the factory they would have added one from the start. So here is what I did I changed all the positive cables from the batteries to the starter and to the alternator reset the apps sensor and now it runs like a champ once more no more voltage drops.
