Twin turbo Ideal

Im on a tight buget but im interested in twins. i happen to have a second stock turbo and was wonderin if anybody has done this or considered putting stock twins on a truck.

Well twins consist of a smalll turbo on top feeding into a big turbo on bottom, two stock turbos just wouldn't be practical. I do know one one guy that is getting twins that has the stock turbo on top and a huge B2 on the bottom. But his truck is an 2006 don't know if it would work the same on a 2nd gen. He is StrokerAce on here

The 3rd gen kit wouldnt work on the second gen, just to many differences. I do know of several people that run their stock turbo and a larger one on the 2nd gens though. I belive sheid uses the stock turbo in their kit with a different houseing but at 3900 its not very cheap. Im sure you can find some guys on here that are running the stocker with something else that could probably give you a hand.

what other mods are you running? Jim Fulmer did two stockers as twins just for fun on a 12v. it can support roughly 40-450hp but EGT's get a little hot, if you have a box and can turn it down you can probably get away with 100hp-125hp injectors towing heavy. It'll have lightening quick spool up too. A great twins set up is using the stock turbo in conjunction with an Ht3b turbo, many companies sell these kits for roughly 2500 dollars, relentless and kendrick diesel being two that come to mind. This is the same as peirs diesels towing kit and O'poole offers this set up as well. If you have the ability to fabricate your own plumbing and a light foot, twins can be made that will work well for very cheap, however they won't be very well tuned.

You can make a well tuned set of twins for your truck for about 1000 dollars but this doesn't include studs or a 3 piece manifold both are nice things to have. With out the studs you have to be very careful of over boosting and blowing your head gasket.

it really boils down to what are you looking to accomplish with the truck, start with that and then we can help you get set up from there.

well mainly i was just wanting to do something that wasnt goin to cost alot of money.cheap extra boost is what im after im not wanting to get 500+ hp but i would like to be able to spank my step dads 04 dodge that has a edge ez chip only. even if it only gave me 20 more hp doin the stock twins that would be fine with me. stock twins or not... twins are always cool. is there anyway i can get info on how jim fulmer did his??

I haven't found a specific write up on them, this is all through hearsay, however, They would be made the same way any compound twin turbo system is made. Good pics of the plumbing can be found at: http://www.powerbypoole.com/turbos.html

This will give you a little insight into what you will need to do. With these second gen trucks, you can get a three piece manifold to get the top turbo up high, or you can flip the stock manifold. Without extra fuel you won't really notice any extra HP. Add an Edge Drag comp with stock twins and your truck will spool really fast, it will undoubtably beat your stepdad's truck with an EZ on it. Problem being your trans will be hurting. Hope this helps. Its an expensive hobby.

Just as a qualifier, this isn't the ideal set up for twins by any means, but it's something fun to play with if you have booth turbos and some time on your hands, I definitely would, just for kicks at least. You'll need gauges for sure though.

most guys will use stainless, because it doesn't need to be jet coated. but you can do mild steel and have the cold pipes powder coated and the hot pipe jet coated(for the heat).
