grinds in and out 3rd and sometimes 4th

i would say maybe your synchro for 3 gear. it could be a plastic cover on the end of the shift fork. that could be damaged, wear out,or missing and that will sometime cause that.

I've had the same problem twice. Mine always had teeth missing off of 3rd gear. Don't let it go too long, will eventually cause more damage.

yeah it pretty bad but i would have to slow dowen and push in the clucth all the way dowen and then put it in gear

yeah if you ask me i would have to say synchro damage and if you wait to long it'll be serious gear damage. My honda civic does the same thing. I guess you just gotta have a torque monster to screw up 3rd gear right.
