Popping noise when I hit the brakes

I hear a popping noise coming from the back of my truck when I hit the brakes... I thought it might be my traction bars but they are secure.. What else could it be? Maybe a u joint or the calipers on the back?

Check the spring u-bolts.

Doubt it is a u-joint. You'd probably feel that shaking.

check the caliper mounting bolts if the rear pads have been changed recently the mounting bolts if not properly torqued will back off and when you apply the brake pedal the caliper will rock back and forth causing a clicking or popping noise
