For that price i think i'll wait on new ones. Isn't there any way i could go find some wrecked 3rd gen's and swap them over some how?

You have to take the 3rd gens mirror guts and change it all over to the 2nd gen tow mirror housings. The 3rd gen and 2nd gen mirror mounts are different.

I did just that at one point in time. Had the setup for 4 days I think and was driving with them flipped out and one broke at the pivot. :RTFM: It took me right at 6 hours to do the swap. IMO it's not worth it when a lot of the aftermarket mirrors are better than the factory units.

Here is what I ended up going wth.

I don't know about yours but the ones I had for 4 days vibrated really bad so I couldn't see much out of them. The ones I have now are pretty solid. Only vibrating on the worst of roads and that big spot mirror on the bottom is just awesome for parking and getting rid of the blind spots. With one quick glance I can see all around the truck for changing lanes on the Hwy now. I still haven't hooked up the marker lights on mine yet but I got that one the list for a rainy day.

I have the older CIPA mirrors, but would like to get the newer style with the heaters, too. Sure, I have to do a bit of wiring, but no big deal. I like the light/turn signal too.
