cummins oil pressure sending unit

need to replace my oil pressure sender on a 2001 cummins has anyone done that themselves before?

I agree with him well atleast I think I may need to do the same thing as my oil pressure never changes and guage stays the same before i start truck already shows pressure

I think it takes a 1-1/16 deep well socket are a special socket that is real deep. My craftman deep well socket wasn't quite deep enought.:shrug:

Yeah I need to replace mine but there like $240 so mine is gonna wait.

01 Qc Cummins 4x4 long box, edge attitude with juice (HOT!!), 4" exhaust, afe stage 2 intake, HTB2 62/12, banks intake pleum, bully dog big fuel kit, stage three jammers, southbend 3250 DD, BD Blow off valve. PDR master and slave cylinder upgrade. Sold

2006 mega cab 4x4 auto. Stock for now.

i would just put a mechanical gauge instead of that over priced part

That is because in Chrysler's infinite wisdom, they produced that re-flash thinking it would eliminate oil pressure sender/gauge problems on the trucks. I guess they figured no one would notice that they had oil pressure before they even started the motor. laugh

so is there a fix for that or do I need a mechanical guage so I know whats I gots?

Either have a reflash done without that fix or just use a mechanical gauge.
