oil filters

not sure if this has been a topic before or not, but I was wondering what oil filters are good and not so good to use.
I had heard that fram filters can come apart but not sure if this is true just looking to keep the truck intact

There have been documented failures of fram filters and wix filters. I would use fleetguard filters. They are made by cummins. The places I get them from www.geno'sgarage.com but im sure other vendors sell them. Never had a problem with geno'd though. Whatever you do dont use a fram though they are cheaply made.

Not a bad filter company but they have had documented failures. I wish I could remember the sight with the info on them. As far as Napa they arent bad filters, in fact if I remember right wix are the ones who make the Napa filters. I personally use the Napa Gold filters on my other gasser vehicles. But in my opinion the only ones I will use on my cummins are the fleetguard for several reasons. Because I know they are almost if not the most reliable out there, they are made by cummins and approved. Many trucking companies use only fleetguard filters which say's something. But also because why take A chance if they only cost me about the same amount as other filters. But like I said what ever you do dont go with a fram.

I think I got a filter from NAPA out here made by fleetguard. Not entirely sure. I'll ask the sales rep that comes to our shop about that. Pretty sure though.

let me know cuz if I don't have to look all over for a good filter I will use napa. I appreciate the info about the other filters too..

do you have a part number for the case filter?? my neighbor has 2 case hoes so if they are same filter as what works for the cummins we can buy in bulk as his 2 tractors and then 2 cummins so we will use them pretty quick

I'd have to look on my truck, that's what I run. They got alittle of a price on them but they work. I can't find my truck right now though, I'll get when I get my truck back.

If you arent opposed to ordering online I order my fleetguard filters online through Geno's garage they usually get anything to me in 3 to 4 days. And I usually order there bulk kit which is 4 filters 2 fuel filters and 1 air filter.
