Wow 50psi on stock turbo, he is definatly pushing his luck on that thing. And it's not really bad to disconnect the wastegate, you just gotta remember there is nothing holding the boost of you turbo back, you esentially are the wastegate.

yea it was crazy because i never heard that much out of a stock turbo his egt gauge moved as fast as his boost gauge he was hitting 1500 degree lightning fast

My buddy has an 00 that hits 52psi on stock turbo. After 35 psi its just hot air. I would def be lookin into a bigger charger as its pushing the stock one to the max. Also he is looking for trouble gettin it that hot as well and that much boost if he has no studs. He will end up like the 00 that I just mentioned with a blown headgasket and cracked head. Possibly more...

Maybe even a melted piston, no telling hot hot the EGT's are getting after pegging a 1500* gauge so quickly. I don't know about cracked head, the 12 valve heads hold up alot better than the 24 valve's.

Yeah, all kinds of bad things can happen at those pressures. I ran 48 a couple of times on my 95, and have hit the 40 mark on my 00 but Like mentioned about 32psi is the top of the compressor map on an hx35. You just start blowing how air and building Egt's after that. Also you run other risks. As for disconnecting the wastegate, meh, its not terrible, just keep your eye on the boost gauge and remember your turbo isn't doing much for you after 32psi.

It makes me wonder.............If your bringing a stock turbo past 30 PSI alot, you obviously got to have the funds to upgrade your turbo. Why wouldn't you? It's just like pushing the turbo to it outer limits. That's not fun in my eyes. It does nothing. Why risk that thing gernading. It's not like your engine will get away scott-free, if it does gernade. Just doesn't make sense to me.

i will hit 52 psi on my hy 35. but i do not drive it that hard all the time and like everyone says anything after 32 psi you just start pushing hot air. one day the stock charger will go but right now i am looking for a new charger for my truck.
