Post Yes, Another "Stacking" Question

Hey guys. As my title says, I also have a question about stacking a box and a programer. I recently sold my superchips tuner, and am looking into a Smarty. But first, here is a quick rundown...I also have a VanAaken SmartBox R, which according to VanAaken, does fueling as well as timing. At first I was running that as well as my superchips, untill I found out the box also added timing. After unplugging the box and just running the superchips, the truck felt much better...I think I was adding too much timing...Is that correct?? So anyway, now that I am in the market for a new tuner, I was thinking smarty because I can run it on just the fueling settings because the box takes care of the timing...Is that a correct statement as well? I have heard great things about the Comp/Smarty stack, and plan to upgrade to that once I have my big line kit and can safely supply the fuel, but for now, are my assumptions correct about running my current VanAaken box with the smarty for decent power/smoke/fun? Thanks in advance for the help. I really appreciate it.

Yup, sounds like you've got it just about right. The combine timing of both boxes you had going is way to aggressive, and yes the smarty has all the catcher files written with or without timing, so you can run it stacked or not. You'll probably want a better lift pump even running just the smarty and the VA. Sean

Thanks Sean, it makes me feel better that I am starting to make sense out of all of this...But listen to this: Ya know I am planning on doing the edge comp/smarty thing, well, a local dealer here has the comp for a very good price, and I think Im going to go grab one today. So I guess Im going to do this whole thing a little backwards maybe, than what I had thought, but well see. Thanks for the help and Ill keep ya posted on how the build is going.
