Anybody have an htb2 62 turbo?

I was wondering if anybody had that turbo with around 100 hp injectors w/chip or programmer. I was wondering what kind of egts to expect if i am unloaded and when i have 10,000+ behind me. And if i can run my stack and how high i could prob tow with on my comp while keeping egts in check.

We used a similar turbo on an 01. It was a bell USB which is another S300 variant with a 62mm comp wheel like the htb2 62. However, it had a big ex. housing and IMO was laggy, even with a comp, HRVP44, and 150hp sticks. It would spool fine when unloaded, but it wouldn't spool quick enough towing, and would get really hot down low. Also, It wouldn't provide enough air to keep that below 1600*, but thats a lot of fuel, and IIRC it was a non wastegated ex.

I would think a 62/13 would be a nice set up for a comp and 100hp sticks. It should spool faster with the 71mm ex. turbine, and the dual ported wastegate will keep it cooler up top. I would imagine you would want to turn down the sublevels on your comp when towing above 10k. Maybe not though. It should definitely be managable though.

I would put you in the mid 400's on the dyno. But it really depends on the dyno, I have seen dyno's that give really low numbers compared to what calculations based on ET or trap speed and weight produce.

I have pretty close to the setup your planning on, including the htb2. My egt's vary considerably. I have hit 1500 degrees racing with the comp on 5x5. The edge injectors are not the greatest though. I see temps about 750 to 800 while at crusing speeds and I usually don't tow anything below about 15000 but my egt's will hit 1350 with no problem pulling hills with the box off. That is going about 55 in 5th gear though, kinda luggin the motor but I don't like to tow very fast. Down in 4th it pulls like a champ at 55 but likes to drink fuel. However when not lugging the motor and pulling the same load at 70 egt's aren't bad.

01 Qc Cummins 4x4 long box, edge attitude with juice (HOT!!), 4" exhaust, afe stage 2 intake, HTB2 62/12, banks intake pleum, bully dog big fuel kit, stage three jammers, southbend 3250 DD, BD Blow off valve. PDR master and slave cylinder upgrade. Sold

2006 mega cab 4x4 auto. Stock for now.

ok thank you, i would plan on getting scheid stage 1 injectors. Are you pleased with the turbo or would u wish you had something else? ill go ahead and ask a dumb ? though, i always let off when i see my egts get past 1200 but ive read on here you guys running up to 1500 and 1600, is that just a huge risk or ? i don't want to pull a trailer and get past 1200. so mabey just smaller injectors or a different turbo than the htt?

You're safe to run 1200-1250 all day long. above that you just want to do it for short bursts. The hotter you get, the short you should stay in it. I'm going to run 200hp sticks in my truck and I occassionally tow up to 18-20k in very steep hilly terrain. Thats why I'm going with a twin turbo set up. Hopefully its enough to keep me cool, so I don't have to back out of the throttle. Right now, I'm running 65hp injectors and a comp box on my stock turbo, and have been able to keep EGT's managable towing 18.5k up a 13% grade for 2 miles. You'll want to run more timing and less fuel, and you should be able to do just fine.

What size tires do you have on your truck bad_cummins? i have 285s and at 70 mph i am only 1900 rpms. i could see why you are getting those egt if you keep it in 5th and that slow mph. how long can you stay into the throttle though? do you have to ease into each hill and ease off all the way or can you just keep it to the floor for along time before you have to let off, lets say you are over 2000rpms.
