A good intake would be a BHAF (Big Honkin Air Filter) You can get it at Napa part # 2790. Yeah for just a chip the tq convertor will be a good upgrade. I recommend Dave Goerend for the convertor. His convertor with a lifetime warranty is $1295.

But dont forget about getting more fuel to the VP. The juice box needs more fuel then the stock lift pump can readily supply if you got your foot in it.

depends on the miles on your truck. if your going to the trouble of pulling the converter might as well just have the tranny gone through while your that far in it and get a shift kit too.

Definitely. If the trans has any kind of miles on it, just have it gone through when its out. A TC and VB is kind of just a bandaid in that situation, it will help, but it won't fix the problem.

Also, like mentioned above. Upgrade the fuel system. This will save you money down the road. Or at least delay the inevitable.

Yeah, Dave Georend is a really good guy. Thats the route I'm going with my trans, when I actually need one. Or I just can't hold out any longer and want to install the twins and injectors. Its hard to say what the internals are like on that trans, but odds are they could use some refreshing if possible. A converter and valvebody will get you by for a while, but expect to do the rest at some point.

How much was your superchips? I keep hearing that they smoke a lot, but I Kinda have my doubts because it doesn't tap the pump wire. I may see If I can find one to try.

my tranny had less than 120k on it when it rattled the tq bolts out so while I was that far and you pretty much have to pull tranny to get it out I figured what the heck might as well rebuild it. come to find out my tranny was about ready to crap it's insides all over the place. The guy who built my tranny drove the truck 3 weeks prior to all this and could not believe the tranny looked that bad. so just because it shifts well doesn't mean it's in good shape. if your going to pull the converter etc yourself rebuild it while it's out cuz it's not an easy job when you have never pulled one outta a dodge before. there are some tricks to it. just my :2cents I was originally going to just put in a new converter and flexplate but after the time it took to pull it I said i am this far might as well bite the bullet. now i have billet input, triple disc converter and a shift kit. and once the trans goes it can take the converter with it...
