the dead pedal

hey guys i know we have all talked about this problom before on this forum but i need to talk about it again. today i was driving my truck and i got the dreaded dead pedal. i got home and shut the truck off and let it sit for 20 min or so and then checked it for codes. i didnt get any codes at all. i then started the truck back up and took it down the road and it was fine again, and has been all day. now it happens periodically. i am hoping this is just a bad map scencor or the edge box gone bad. if anyone out there has any ideas let me know and soon please.

That's what my 98.5 does, but it's pulling the P0216.

how did you scan your truck for the code. i dont have a programmer to run it on so i used the odometer to scan codes. i didnt know if that would pick all the codes up or not.

98.5's can't scan themselves for codes...........................i don't think*.

You can go to any parts store and tell them to hook up a scanner for codes. Don't listen to their advice though.

I just use a Modus. but any scan tool will do. The cheap ones they use at parts stores; I'm thinking about investing in just for the fact of how quickly you can pull codes. Versus a Modus or equal.

*I'll try next time I drive it.

Mine done this and it was my APPS sensor. I had a Check Eng. Light come on and stay on too until I replaced it, and now it's fine.

First off... Here is my web page on how to check for error codes...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002%2...rror_codes.htm

Second off if that doesn't work go to my signature and click ScanGauge II... Great code reader...

MAP sensors and bad Edge Comp's don't create dead pedals... Only VP44 and/or APPS sensors... These are the only thing that can... But you could disconnect it to rule it out...

APPS Sensor is about 400-500 bucks and VP44 is about 1,200-1,600 bucks to replace...

Well i found my problom. i was throwing a code that said my map scencor was getting enough voltage. I took out my Edge EZ and now my truck runs great. I am going to try to send the box back to edge products to see if they will fix it. So anytone running this edge box that starts having probloms with there truck really needs to think about junking the edge box and see if that helps.
