smarty questions??

i got a 2001 2500 and i have my smarty on level 4 and every morning b4 work i start the truck to warm up and sometimes it does the high idle mode which i like it a lot but some times it dont is there something you have to do to set it or does it do it by itself i know when its in high idle if you hit the brake it quits but idk thanks 4 any help

I think the outside temperature has to be low enough. The days it comes on check your outside temp versus the days it doesn't. I don't have one, but as far as I understand thats how it works.

The intake air temp has to be low enough. There's a good description of it here:

Looks like someone beat me to the punch...:Thumbup:

As for me today I'm working on a clients computer here in New Meadows, ID. It's roughly about -16*F outside. Once my truck gets cold after I'm done here working it should kick the 3 cylinder high idle fairly easy...

You also got to remember that the grid heater will raise the temp in the manifold so even though its -16*F it might not stay cold enough to trip the 3 cylinder high idle but at least the high idle will hit...

As you might want to check your IAT for accuracy too...
