Unhappy Need a VP44

My pump is pooping out on me, which really sucks because I have only had the truck for 3 weeks. So it looks like I will have to upgrade. I know I need to replace the stock with a FASS or somthing along those lines, but who's VP44 should I go with? Some where down the road I want to get the truck over 400 hp so should I go with the HRVP44 or someone elses?

400hp is easily attainable with a stock pump. I'd look at Schied, Bluechip, and Industrial injection personally. There are some other good ones out there that i've heard mentioned, but I'm not that familiar with them. The HRVP44 is up to you, if you plan on towing with it, it becomes harder to turn the truck down, and you don't gain a whole lot above and beyond having a fueling box on there.

I'll confirm that... I'm currently at 381/826 with a stock pump, injectors and just a Edge Comp. Just a few more mod's and I can cross the 400 HP mark fairly easy...

Hey Guys? Does he want his truck to shake? Or does he want his truck to run smooth. I have a buddy that has a HRVP 44 and it does make it sound like a hot rod but the truck does shake a lot with that pump too. I had to do mine recently and i know i wanted my truck to run as smooth as the stock
VP44. I went with the Special X VP44 from Blue Chip. I love it and have more power than stock to start with. Some people like the shake. Some people don't. Whats his idea on what he is looking for?

I wasn't sure what kind of horsepower the stock pump could support. I want my truck to run smooth, I like the way they sound.

From what i understand from talking with a lot of people the stock pump is good for 500 to 600 HP. Thats also depends on what you use for injectors and fueling box too. The Special X VP44 i got recently for my truck runs the same as stock. Runs smooth. You can't get it for the HO/ETH engines. Just the normal output which is 235HP. The only difference between the stock pump and the Special X pump is that the timing is advanced a little internally, extra 25HP to the rear wheels, Its def, smore snappy, and if you love the diesel sound it has more of a crackle to it like it sounds mean, some people say it sounds more marble-ee. I love it, I put the pump in myself. I tell you i thought it was a lot easier doing a VP44 than a injection pump on a older ford with a 6.9/7.3 if any of you guys have done one. Took me about 3 hours taking my time. Its all on what you want. I got it through Blue Chip Diesel. It was only an extra $300 from the stock pump and still comes with the Bosch 1 year warrentee. I thought it was money well spent. Go to bluechipdiesel.com and you can find out more about it, or you can get the number off the website, when you call and get the machine dial 1 and it will goto Chip's cell and you can talk to him directly. hope this helps you out. Anymore questions feel free to ask.:smoke
