Exclamation Transmission Trouble

the old' man has a 99 cummins bone stock(if that helps & it's auto). so today he picked the truck up from the shop from get the fuel line fixed. He noticed that the truck woundn't go in to 1st & 2nd gear but it would go in to drive, R,N,P. so was the problem. Thanks

Well, its going into limp mode, but finding the reason is going to be quite a bit harder. If he drives it like that, he will burn it up pretty quick. Has he tried checking for codes? Also check the fluid level. The fittings at the cooler are pretty weak and pop apart sometimes, if you lose fluid, it will do that too. So checking for trouble codes would be the first step.

You'll probably find gov pressure being too high.

If that's the case you'll need to replace your govenver pressure sensor or knock down the pressure if it's reading correctly. Most of the time on here the pressure just needs knocked down. But considering yours is bone stock and probably hasn't been tinkered with it might actually be the sensor. Which is a pretty simple fix.

Put it on a scanner and if the pressure seems to not be constant with your speed or just doesn't move or moves eratic it's probably the sensor.
