Loud or louder nocking noise

I have a 01 24vho 6speed I just came back from a trip and now I have a loud or louder nocking noise in the motor. I am pretty sure it's not bottom end, oil pressure is normal temp is normal run as good as ever no power loss no codes. Hell maybe I'm crazy. I thought maybe the injector pump because it sounds high up in the motor but I would think it would set a code unless their is no pressure drop. Any ideas? Thanks.

No. That's the strange thing, the noise is there but nothing about the truck or the way it run's has changed.

Thanks for the reply.

Have the valves checked just to be on the safe side, if its worth it to ya pop the valvecover off anyways and see if you can narrow the noise down better, you shouldn't really need to have the valves adjusted unless you have well over 100,000 miles, have them checkes anyways.

It doesn't sound like valves but you never know, I'll look in to that. It has 117000 mi on it. It sounds like your hitting a anvill <spelling) with a hammer. If I had to guess the noise has allways been there it is just louder like something is wearing out.

Thanks.

Trunion, valve bridge, or dropped seat.

If a bridge was broken it would be noticeable in performance, a failed trunion or dropped seat would not. From the description I would say a valve seat came unseated.
