Cruise Control

When I put the cruise control on the truck surges real bad with the edge attitude and when it is off it cant hold speed on a hill

02 Dodge 3500: Auto tranny, BHAF, Auto Meter Cobalt gauges, 4" exhaust, and most importantly heated leather seats because Alaska is cold. :givemebeer

hmmm..... well mine does the exact thing, i dont even use my cruise cause it surges so bad.

That's really odd... The 2002 Dodge is completely electronic on the cruise control.

So try a test and disconnect the Edge completely from your truck and see if it will hold a hill and behave correctly. If it does then the Edge is the problem and should be set back for repair.

I've got a Edge Comp leave it on 5x5 and set my cruise for 65 MPH for over 2.5 hours yesterday and no surge, no problems...

mine also surges but I think its my hotrod pump that causes that, when I just had the edge no other mods mine didn't surge on level 5

I took it off and it wont hold a hill at 65, it has to down shift. It surges in all the levels.

sounds like your having an electrical problem than could be speed sensor is going bad or APPS not sure

APPS is brand new. I'm going to check the speed sensor.

Have you checked the codes. I know an APPS would throw a code, but I'm not sure about the speed sensor.

code P 0500 through P0503 would be speed sensor

On a 2002 ECM & PCM controls the speed during cruise control... The APPS is not used. It got to be a electrical problem...
