No power steering or power brakes

I have a 2001 cummins 24 valve . Yesterday I started it and it had no power brakes or steering. I pulled off a vacume line and had some pressure. does any body know what the pressure should be or what else might be the problem?

You shouldn't be worried about vacum. Dodge brakes are hydro-boost. Runs off the power steering system. I did switch my power steering fluid to redline synthetic and that made it more responcive. If you have a plow for the truck, it don't matter. I could never figure out why the power steering system has a hard time working with the plow on at a stand still, makes me wonder if the power steering pumps aren't powerful enough.

How you PS fluid look is it clear and light clear or does it look like used motor oil???

I never have a problem with mine because the sole fact is that system has no filter and the fluid NEEDS to be changed at 30K miles. The fluid is also used as a lubricant. So after the fluid start breaks down (darken in color) then debris start flowing then it start damaging everything in the system (or plug it up).

I'm about due for a PS fluid change so when I get ready to do it I'll do a full right up on it!

I did the amsoil synthetic power steering to mine a month ago and it didn't have the cold issues like it did winters past and make a weird noise till warm. I had one break in my dads truck and that sucks when you have no brakes or power steering and are out fishing in the backwoods

01 quad cab 4x4, edge drag comp, 4" exhaust, fass 150, 250 ddps, Jefferson State compounds 683hp so vp 11.91. AMSOIL front to rear. now back to stock 95 fummins in the works

Neither do I... But I'm using plain ol' SuperTech Power Steering fluid. It get changed ever year basically... Like right now I'm coming closed to due date on the PS fluid and it now just barely start to whine on cold mornings... Soon as I flush it out and change it I will stop like usual...

I know exactly what you mean...

Try driving a 40K# water tender without power steering...
