Exhaust Brake Electornics

My question is this, on my truck I have a Banks exhaust brake (came w/ the truck) I have the high idle flash and the high idle will only kick on after the exhaust brake (EBPV?) has run for a short time. Will putting a high idle switch on the truck hurt any electronics? Does the Banks Brake have any electronics that are associated w/ it? Sorry for the long post. Thanks.

Long post? I think you need to actually elaborate more.

Nope it will be fine...

I'm running the Jacobs exhaust Brake from Dodge. Mine starts and pauses for a short time and then the exhaust brake starts and the high idle. Now be careful the 3 cylinder high idle can produce some seriously high temps! (850*F to 1,000*F worth of pyro!)

Here is my high idle mod I've done...

Mopar Man,

So your exhaust brake will run for a short time and then kick off. In 30 sec. to 2 min your high idle by Dodge TSB standards will kick on. Am I understanding this correctly?

Actually No...

0 - 60 Secs nothing...

60-120 Secs the exhaust brake starts...

2-3 minutes later... High idle starts with the exhaust brake...

Both continue to run...

Okay, here is what I have

@ start-up - 10 minutes - depends on temp. hissing sound like brake is active

10 min - brake "kicks off" still have some hissing sound

30 sec-1 min after = high idle starts

I've never had the high idle start any quicker than 5 minutes after start-up

Is it just the truck or the Banks Brake elecronics possibly?

Totally normal. The ECM software is design to allow for the engine to stablize a bit before adding the high idle to it. Also the hard one I've seen is 3 cylinder high idle starts and the Exhaust brake is on then the grid heaters hit...

That poor Cummins is trying to drag all that load around with 3 cylinders on a cold morning...
