smoke switch

i have 2001 cummins with edge jucie with additude and i tryed to put a smoke switch in but all it would do is throw codes and cut my power back i tryed both black wires
what am i doing wrong thanks

Here is a brief video on the smoke switch for a 2001.
Also, just to simplify things, it all has to be one closed circuit with the switch "off" or in the factory/normal mode, and than has to be "cut" when current is diverted....anyway, Im sure you know that.

And yes, It can and usually will throw a check engine light. You shouldnt run with it in gauged, only use it if your playing around and pulling out of somewhere, etc. at low speeds, than shut it off. You may have it installed just fine, but need to turn it off once you start driving.

My truck wants to be a semi when it grows up...

if i turn the switch off it cut my power back to stock even with it on stage 5 and the engine light is still on if i hook a scaner to it and clear the codes then i get my power back

you have to tap the signal and the 5 volt the 5 volt is one of the black ones get a multi meter and see which one is the right one when you turn it on you will feel the timing advance while driving and your attitude monitor will show alot of boost something is not right on yours from what i read your going into limp mode. you can wire in a resistor and try that think 5 ohm radio shack sells them for about a buck try that also

where would i put the resistor on the pink wire or on the black wire

it really dont matter just in one of the wires going to the switch

will this work with the juice since it has a low boost setting isn't it the same thing or will this add more smoke thanks
