I have a stock VP on my 02, but it is my understanding that a hot rod pump will help performance without major milage reduction it is more up to you and your right foot. I will stay with a stock pump just because I am using a Comp Box to increase performance and milage. A hot rod pump will only give a extra 30 or so hp increase with a Box, and I would just as soon spend the extra money on a box or injectors. Now for the other side of it if you do not have a box and need another pump then it may be what is right for you.

I have a stage 2 hot rod P works great tons of power. As for MPG I can't honestly give you an accurate reading, because something in my drive train is binding up feels like I'm standing on the brake even though I'm not. I think its my transfer case because it gets worse in 4 wheel drive. I'm getting between 14-16 MPG right now but when I fix whatever is binding I hope it goes back to 18-20.

Hot Rod Pumps are nice but it is my understanding that they do not respond to electronics well...for instance you might get 120hp out of a SO pump and a Comp, but less with a HRVP 44 and that box...idk if its true but thats just what I have heard...

If you planing on replacing a VP44 and this is your daily driver... I would suggest you just head for the Stock SO pump. They do quite well for mild power and except electronics quite well...

Yeah but look at the amount of fuel your dumping in the cylinders...

Ya when I get the wife truck done this monday the diesel goin in the garage gettin all the fliuds changed, oil leak fix, fuel gauge fixed not reading correctly, drive line issue fixed and a bigger fass, I haven't even been able to get past 2/3 throttle ever since I installed injectors and hot rod P. : I did a 5.8 second 0-60MPH three weeks ago and that was only half throttle.
