Lift Pump

I was driving my truck yesterday and last night and noticed my fuel pressure jumping around. On my way home it finally crept down to 5 and would go up from there at idle. My pressure is normally 15 or atleast that is where the guage goes too, but anyways I think my lift pump has gone out and I was thinking about just by passing it finally. Right now I have a holley blue on the frame and the stock pump on the motor. So what is the best way to bypass the stock pump and what will i need to do it with? or would I be better off to just get another pump and put on the mtor, that one made it 3 years before it died. Just wondering what yall's opinions were on this and what I would need to bypass the stock lift pump. Thanks for any and all info on this one.

Well I am looking into doing that at some point, but right now don't have the change to go get one, the holley blue is on there and running fine, but the stock pump went out on the motor, and I am going to try and just by pass it or just have another one put on it, which ever of those two options would be best is what I am looking into right now.

THanks again for any info

you can bypass it pretty easy. Just romove the line going into the lift pump and the line coming out of it and put the two lines together by cutting a flaring the end of both lines and connect with a rubber line and clamp with hose clamps this will make the holley run into the stock fuel filter still. or order a big line kit from vulcan and put that on and it will move everything for you. Hope that helps.

one other thing, does anyone know the size of the banjo fitting that goes into the fuel filter housing from the pump? What size would it take to replace that?

You be better off switching over to a Vulcan Big Line kit. It would replace all that tiny plumbing and move the stock lift pump back by the fuel tank.

My old setup...

Works really good... If you talk to Eric at Vulcan you can get the proper fitting for the Holey, AirTex, etc. also he'll even set you up with the proper wiring kit for your new pump...

Nice, I had run across that last night on Genos Garage, and was looking into ordering either the big line kit, or the relocation kit, which i believe was 3/8's lines but came with all the fittings and wire hookups. I am going to order something, gotta get it back running so I can have some fun. and the only reason I was thinking about skipping on the big line kit is the price difference, and I don't feel that I need 1/2 in lines at the moment. Just my thoughts on it right now. Do all the dodge lift pumps hook up with the same connector?

Stock pumps all use the same connector...

But if you go aftermarket like Holley or similar you need to tap that signal and setup a relay...

I already am running my holley off a relay, I was hoping I could just hook it straight up and be done, But guess that would be too easy. So I could run the relay off the pump hook up. Would this make the holley cut off and on with pressure? Just curious.
