No overdrive, though scanner shows it being commanded

99 Dodge 3500 Auto.
Has a full built tranny with Goerend valve body & converter.

Recently, the crank position sensor behind the starter went haywire. I drove it a few days before I had a chance to replace it. The last day I drove it, I lost overdrive.

The tranny would lock/unlock randomly in third, but will not shift into overdrive.

I figured the two MIGHT be related as the crank sensor tells the PCM how many RPM the engine is turning, which I'm sure might have something to do with shift points.

I figured wrong.. I changed the crank sensor and now the truck runs a ton better, but it still won't shift to 4th.

I kept the scanner hooked up while driving it, it shows that 4th gear is being commanded, but it doesn't shift to 4th.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Check the governor pressure, make sure it's in check. I've heard of not have O/D when gov pressure is mess up, I'm yet to see it. Usually when it's off you lose 1 and 2. Also I've never done it yet, but I think you can remove the O/D without the transmission actually coming off. So you could make sure you O/D isn't nuked. They had plenty of O/D problems in stock transmissions, but being yours is Goerand, I dunno. Check for codes too, see if you got any.

I'm also assuming you have 1 and 2. If not, something is fu-cked in your wiring.

check for a blown fuse. Maybe a bad overdrive solenoid located on VB two square looking things, one is lockup solenoid other is overdrive solenoid with a wire coming out of it, right next to governor solenoid. Faulty overdrive switch or overdrive switch module located under dash. or worst case lower vavle body malfunction.

No updates? Must have been a fuse

What's going on? You got this going into a O/D yet?
