engine revs up on its own???

Have 2002 dodge 2500 24 vavle and have noticed that while backing up sometimes, engine will rev up to about 2300 rpm's, then come down and kill engine. only happens once and a while. if i try to restart right away, it does not restart, but if i wait 25 sec. it will fire up with no prob. any suggestions??? have 121k on now

A bad APPS will cause the engine rev, I've seen it a few times. But never as high 2300RPM.

1691 isnt very good man...thats 'Internal fuel injection pump failure. Low power, engine
derated, or engine stops.' 1693 is just a companion code...did these come off of the ODO or did you use an actual scanner?

Get it checked with a Code Reader...Did you take it to a Stealership?! and they didnt warranty the pump?? Sounds fishy too me...Is your truck stock? Is the pump tapped? it could just be a glitch in the IP...Idk also if it is possible but I have heard of the ODO retaining codes so heck that 1691 could have very well been from when you did your pump work...but idk

they put it in under warranty 25000 miles ago and says it is out of warranty. i found out that they have put a reman pump in and not a new one as i thought. i have had codes checked recently and they never showed these codes. these have come up in the last week or so. truck is stock.
