air filter question

So i'm getting a $10 intake filter from a friend of mine. It's oiled just like a K&N filter, and it's a pretty decent size. Although it won't bolt up because it's a little small and the hose is too big to bolt on. But if i managed to make it bolt on, would there be any differences between the intake filter vs the stoke airbox w/ K&n filter? Every thing is stock except for exhaust and drop in filter.

The K&N is going to be a PITA...

Dry filters do so much better and last much longer... I'm running a $40 dollar BHAF and it got over 100K miles now and 5 years later still going. I never got to wash, oil, blow off, vacuum, etc...

Why mess with junk...

Right there^

Just go to Napa # 2790

or you could by original equipment: Fleetguard # AH19037

Both damn good, I'd go with whatever is cheapest.

I've got a cylinder K&N air filter that is attached directly to the hose & its wide open in the engine compartment. Yeah, I have to clean it every 6 months or so but other than that I just take it off when I change the oil & tap it on smoething to get any debris out. Why do I go to the extra trouble? Because when its clean, it'll suck in more air than just anout anything else out there, including the BHAF.

thats just what they tell you, but it also lets in many more particles. There are better choices out there and what would help you is a pre filter for it help you not have to knock and abuse the filter. now when you tap it off do you add more oil after doing so? If not then your loosing your filtering capability because the dirt and debris is held by the oil

Wow... Now I heeard everything... I got a filter minder in the end of my filter and in 100K miles it never moved... But i test it often and it still works fine... I've got ZERO filter restriction... The only thing I got to was is the outerwears... But mine wore out...
