Turbo Problems

So the other day I was going down a steep hill at about 40 that dips, it is one of those hills that kind of feels like a roller coaster. Well the instant I started going uphill and came out of the dip my engine started making a high pitch. The screech seems to be the turbo it happens every time i should hear the turbo noise. It is a very discernible screech, which is quite loud. What do you think? maybe the gravity on the hill deprived the turbo of oil due to cetrifugal force and now my bearings are toast? A screech from the turbo isnt good right? Also if the turbo is going bad can I drive the truck till the turbo quits without ill effects to the truck? Well I appreciate your help.

What boost pressure are you at when it does this? Or does it do it as soon as the turbo spools?

I killed my HY due to bearing issues...First off you need to check your shaft play both side to side and in/out play...if the fan blades are chipping of the side wall of the turbo I would not recomend driving it...although I dont think I would drive it with a dying turbo either way, to much risk...

turbo issue

Well pretty much as soon as you should be hearing the turbo spooling up is when the noise hits. The more rpms I get the louder the screech. As far as not driving it, basically any metal shavings etc could get into the engine if the turbo is going out right? How much am I looking at for a new turbo? I think mine is the hx 35 but I will have to check after work. Also would a rebuild be just as viable? Because I really need to get off as cheap as possible on this fix.

What kind of truck do you have? Anything *but* 01/02 AUTO is an HX35...I put a X on mine for 3 hundo, but I have seen a lot cheaper then that as of late...then sold my Y to a Canadian and he fixed it for something...but mine started to do exactly what you are saying...I also had A LOT of Blue Smoke (Oil) are you seeing any of that? Check your play asap...

Yep lol yea if it is more play then you think there should be then there is a problem...take your fingers and spin it and see what happens and then grab it and go side to side and in and out.......
