unknown ticking noise

I need help! I have a 2002 dodge 2500 5.9 6-speed. the truck runs fine with no hesitaiton but it's making a ticking sound that i just can't locate. I've been threw the valves several times and i hav'nt found anything out of the ordianry. I've taken the push rods out and there are no bent push rods. Like i said it makes a ticking sound and it dos'nt seem to affect anything about the truck?? If anyone has had this problem i'd appreciate all the insight you can provide.

When was the last time you tightened up the valves?

Sounds like he just did that.

Is the ticking RPM related at all?

Any louder on one side of the engine or not?

He said he'd been through the valves...not tightened them

He also said the push rods have been taken out. So, you'd hope the valves had been readjusted.

I cant say for sure but I had a simaler problem with mine. Did the same thing that your doing. Mine will not make the tick when you let off,and no it is not a exhaust leak it is strange.I have changed injectors 3 times twice with the same inj. The way I fixed mine is I got 5" exhaust and now you cant hear it.

Just so everyone knows the valves have been adjusted three times first time on 10 and 20 the second and third time on 8 and 18, Yes the sound comes more so from the drivers side of the engine but i can't locate it in any particular section, it sounds more top end but i cant say that for sure.I'm sure one of you have had this problem before and i dont think it's anything major or the truck would'nt idle and run as smooth as it does with no complications.I'm not really sure what the problem is, i've read in other posts that one guy had that same problem and he said it was a piston but if that was the case would'nt it be pressurizing the crank case cause excessive blow by??? i've also read something about a dropped vale seat ??? whatever it is, is definatley internal engine noise, not sure but i think the next step is to take off the head?? what do you think???

All joking a side I started to do the samething and then I figured the cost, you can get a motor with less than 100k for 3500.00 to 4000.00. Then the down time. I have over 10k now and it aint blown up yet. I had several people tell me some rattle and some dont.My sons truck is as quiet as they get and he drives it like there is no tomorrow. Mine sounds like the band is coming down the road. And I drive like grand pa.
