Inside a 47re, in case you were interested

I'm rebuilding my trans, due to it taking a crap on me, and decided to start posting up pics. I haven't uploaded that many yet, but I've taken about 30 thus far, and plan on taking quite a few more. These are some pics of the internals assembled without a case, around them. If you want any specific pictures or details, please let me know and I'd be happy to snap them for you.

First pic is of the converter, fluid pump, Input shaft, front drum/clutch, rear drum/clutch, Intermediate shaft/ planetary assembly, rear band, and O/D unit.

2nd pic is the same, with the O/D unit seperated.

I'm also going to get some comparison pics and measurements of the stock shaft Vs. the billet input shaft to show you the differences.

Thats a dunrite triple disc converter. I'm running billet in and billet out, but not an intermediate. I don't honestly think I will need an intermediate at this point. I do want to pick up a billet flex plate before the install, but we will see what the money situation looks like at that point. I know these ones seem weak, but I also know quite a few stock flex plates behind VP trucks that have held 600hp and 25psi boosted launches.

Its all the same components that it had before, I just had that stupid little check ball in the cooler line stick shut on me and that can be fatal. So everything is out getting rebuilt cleaned and inspected. All new seals, bushings, clutch packs etc...

The way Dave Goerend put it, he'd rather use the output shaft for the weak link. Break the intermediate, you'll be doing this again, and then some. Even possibly the case. He said with the output as the weak link, you usually only have to rebuild the O/D when that one breaks.

Just thought I'd toss that out there for ya.

Yeah, I've thought about that. However, I've heard of outputs breaking on lightly modified trucks with relatively low boost boosted launches. And you don't really hear of intermediates breaking that often. I don't think I will be able to get my set up passed about 550-600 without a lot of additional expenses, so I'm hoping that my intermediate shaft stays together, then I'll either leave it or try to do it all at once.

"In case you were interested"

That's funny because everytime you make a thread with pics the whole site flocks to it and it gets a Million views. Just like the bottom turbo arrived thread.

I need to start making threads like this.

I try to make interesting threads, thats all. That bottom turbo thread, really did the trick with getting a lot of views though. I don't know what happened to that thread though, its gotten old and dusty. I should probably take the time to be organize that thread and turn it into a write up. I should also make a write up out of this one.
