Question on 1693

Ok guys, I just read a thread about the P1693, which I thought I was fairly familliar with. Heres what I thought....I get the 1693 all the time, and had thought that it was a consequence of having my Comp on the truck, as the truck sees something 'interfering' so it sets the 1693.

BUT I havnt run a scanner to it for a while, so your saying that there could be more codes to come up with the scanner BASED OFF the 1693 code? Well, if thats the case than I am going out now to buy a new scan tool....

My truck wants to be a semi when it grows up...

Ok... Let get some thing squared up here...

The P1693 code will only show up using the "Key Trick" method. This is to alert the owner/user that there is other codes present so keep going. The P1693 code normally doesn't show up in portable scanners because the scanner read the error codes differently. But take a look at my updated write up with video and this will explain a bit more of it...

Thanks for that Mike.
I went to your link and almost started laughing....because the codes you had posted on there were P0500 and P0236, and those are both mine too.(I just ran the scanner on it...)

Ok, I get how that works now. Now my question concerns the P0236. From what I understand, when you get that code, the procedure is to check the map sensor for the +5 volts, which I did, and mine is fine...I am thinking that when I put that stupid smoke switch in, I had turned the key when it wasn't hooked up and that is when it set the code. I believe thats what happened because right after I started the truck at that time, the CEL was on. After shutting it off and restarting, the CEL was off and has not come on since than. So basically the computer stored that one, and the P1693 was showing in the OD window to tell me to SCAN the thing, and that told me about the P0236...Sound right?

So all should be well, and I guess I just need to stop being an idiot and remember to reconnect things before I turn my ignition on. :

P0236 is from the smoke switch being on too long... The computer can figure out how you drive miles and miles with 20 PSI boost and never fall at idle... Computer is totally confused...

P0500 - Typical speed sensor error...

Ha ha, the funny thing is, I have NEVER used the switch except for the day I installed it, and yesterday when I was messing with the scanner! Oh dang, Im going to make myself sound even more like an idiot....Its possible I have simply had it in the "ON" position, instead of the "OFF" one...as in hooked up the toggle backwards! That is pretty funny, I'll have to break out the volt meter and check all that tomorrow. But I got a good laugh out of your reply!
