A few VP44 questions

Well my brothers truck wont start, ran for 2 days after I put an airdog on it, it has a few codes, several are crank sensor related, but one of them is a P0370, I pull up the diag table for that code and all it says is if that code is present the IP is toast. So I am going to double check a few things but I am pretty sure it needs a new pump. Right now he has a quadzilla adreniline and exhaust and air filter. We were maybe thinking of a hot rod VP44, probably one from schied, what are peoples opinion on that, also would that be to much fuel with the adreniline and hot rod pump, on stock injectors and turbo.

96 Chevy K3500 6.5 diesel with 230k miles
4" lift 4" exhaust and PMD heatsink

And a DT466 going into a 2.5 ton 6x6 army truck

put it in 3rd. gear & nailed it & it took off like a missile for about 50 ft. & then the turbo exploded kinda like a missile!!!

what was his fuel pressure like w/ the AirDog? What are his goals for the truck? You can get 600hp out of a good SO VP and save oh about 9-11 hundo then buying a HRVP...I personally wouldnt go with a HR, but thats just me...

If you go hotrod vp then you need at least 150 hp over stock inj. and a turbo upgrade I recommend twins. and at least a 150 gph pump, I would go 200, my 150 couldn't keep up sometimes. Will also need a billet trans with aftermarket flex plate torque converter and valve body if its an auto, or a better clutch plus billet input on a manual.

Stick with the SO pump and mild injectors with a good enhancement box stacked with a programmer and you'll get some killer HP/TQ out of it...

But that my personal opinion...

I agree with moparman only do hotrod pump if you have lots of money otherwise stick with stock pump, use a programmer/box/chip.

Why would you replace the injection pump when you are getting CPS codes? Is the truck a '98-00?

The crank pos sensor codes didnt lead anywhere, I will double check everything before I do a pump, but the P0370 code was pretty well defined, if its there the pump is shot, and yes the truck is a 2000, with a manual.

I've seen a broken wire going to the CPS cause a no start condition. It would be much cheaper to eliminate the first. If code P0370 is present, the tone ring on the VP44 is losing signal, which is quite rare.
