1. ECM is having problems... You should see 2 P-Dones and P-PCU and P-ECU. Here is the order it should display...

Here is a video of this...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/tips/c...rror-codes.htm

Here is a thread I started... You can't have just a P1693 code by itself...
https://www.thedieselgarage.com/forum...ad.php?t=74996

So since you getting just a P1693 that means the ECM is holding the other codes and is NOT communicating with the PCM to display the error code. You going to have to stop in a Dodge dealer to get the codes from the ECM.

A PPump is what the 12 valves have for injection pump. In fact there is a new one on the Dodge parts site. I now this, if mine is on the way out thats what I am going with. I cant get any codes to come up. When your vp is going out does your truck lope at times at red lights? Does it have a litte rev up to it when you let off. Does it have a eratic idle to it? These are the things my truck is doing.

JL... Your still after that crazy idea huh?

Well let the guy know about how much MORE its going to cost and the amount of work you got ahead of him (yourself included).

* Need to change gear case (This includes pulling the cam)
* Need to change all throttle linkage
* Buy the p-pump
* Buy the custom High pressure tubing
* Change lift pumps (VP44 requires less pressure than a P-pump)
* Deal with the electronics (ECM/PCM)
* And possibly change injectors (or calibrate for the change in pop pressure).
* Also buy the timing kit so you can time your new P-pump. (Spendy!)

I've never done it myself but in not as easy or as cheap as changing a VP44... I got to admit the p-pump once its install is a mean pump and will last for ever...

the cost of all parts is like 2500 and then some labor. But the price of 2 vps pays for it. And the lift pump just needs a spring upgrade and they work fine. if they have a fass at least.
