trans question

quick question guys. i test drove a 99 2500 today. has 113k miles. its all stock never had a tuner or anything on it. i never drove a 24v before. but is the trans suppose to shift hard? and band into gear

1996 ram 2500 ex cab long 2wd, 5'' straight, 215s, 4k gsk(only revin till 3k), 16* timing, fuel plate MIA, afc modded FF, CFM intake mani, afe stage 2

15.40 at 90.61 in the 1/4th (09-18-10)

no they generally feel like they just mush all the gears together. But don't leave out the possibility of your v/b getting modded. These transmissions have always had some kind of mod since 93.
Also if it clunks into gear from N, then you are low on fluid.

its from 2nd to 3rd. i dont remember what rpm it was at. maybe 2600 and it was like bang and shifted

How much is he asking for this? I would be seeing if he's willing to let you drop the pan and check out the fluid yourself and see if you see anything crazy. Could have a valve hanging up, I don't know. By the way your making it sound, it's probably not modded. I would expect the worst.

He could cut you some deal with the transmission possibly on the way out.

What I meant to say was these transmissions have been known to have people tinker around with the v/b since 93. So it's not rare to have someone think they have a completely stock truck, when it really has had something done to it.

he's asking 10k. i just dont want to end up with a bad trans. i wasnt going to plan to mod the hell out of it until i pay it off

see if they will warranty the trans. Not a bad price for it. May just need a service.

01 quad cab 4x4, edge drag comp, 4" exhaust, fass 150, 250 ddps, Jefferson State compounds 683hp so vp 11.91. AMSOIL front to rear. now back to stock 95 fummins in the works

No dice there. With the transmission shifting funny 7500 max if it's in good shape & SLT. 12g can get you a 2002 HO, SLT heated leather, everything working. 10g can get you a 02 HO ST.
